About The Position

Bassett Healthcare Network is seeking a comprehensive Ophthalmologist to join an established group of 5 Ophthalmologists and 3 Optometrists. The current need is for a general ophthalmologist who can provide comprehensive eye care. The current group includes specialists in pediatric, retina, and glaucoma. The support staff is well-trained and includes ophthalmic technicians, LPNs, and RNs. On-call duties are every 5th weekend in Cooperstown and are rarely busy. Outreach clinics are limited to one location each and are attended by all ophthalmologists. Referral patterns to tertiary care ophthalmologists are well-established. The practice operates within Bassett Healthcare Network, an integrated system serving an 8-county region, and is a major teaching affiliate of Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. Visa sponsorship is available for J-1 and H-1B candidates.

Requirements

• MD, DO or MBBS
• BC/BE
• Completion of an accredited USA Ophthalmology Residency
• New York medical license (or eligibility to obtain)
• BLS Certification Required

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive eye care as a general ophthalmologist.
• Participate in on-call duties every 5th weekend.
• Attend limited outreach clinics at one location.
• Practice within the Bassett Healthcare Network integrated system.
