About The Position

Bassett Healthcare Network, in central New York, is seeking an Ophthalmologist to join our staff. This is an opportunity to join an established group of 5 Ophthalmologists and 3 Optometrists. The current need is for a high-volume cataract surgeon-general ophthalmologist. While there are existing specialists in medical retina, pediatrics, and glaucoma, a sub-specialty interest in glaucoma, oculoplastic, cornea, and cataract surgery would be welcome. The support staff is well-trained and experienced in both the clinic and operating room. On-call duties are every 5th weekend and are rarely busy. You will practice within the Bassett Healthcare Network, an integrated system delivering care across an 8-county region, and become part of a progressive academic health system and a major teaching affiliate of Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. Visa sponsorship is available for J-1 and H-1B candidates.

Requirements

  • MD, DO, or MBBS degree.
  • Board-eligible or Board-certified in Ophthalmology.
  • Completion of an accredited USA Ophthalmology residency.
  • New York medical license (or eligibility to obtain).
  • BLS Certification Required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high volume cataract surgeries.
  • Provide general ophthalmology care.
  • Potentially utilize sub-specialty interests in glaucoma, oculoplastic, or cornea surgery.
  • Participate in on-call duties every 5th weekend.
