About The Position

Navitas Healthcare, LLC is seeking a skilled and certified Ophthalmic Technician to support a high-volume ophthalmology practice in New York, NY. The selected candidate will work closely with ophthalmologists to perform diagnostic testing, assist with clinical procedures, manage patient flow, and ensure efficient operation of the eye care clinic.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (minimum requirement)
  • Active Certified Ophthalmic Technician credential (required)
  • Strong knowledge of ophthalmic testing procedures and equipment
  • Excellent communication and patient interaction skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Proficiency in English (spoken, written, and reading)

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as an Ophthalmic Technician in a clinical or hospital setting
  • Experience assisting with ophthalmic procedures or surgeries
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Familiarity with advanced ophthalmic diagnostic equipment

Responsibilities

  • Perform preliminary ophthalmic diagnostic testing for physician review, including: Visual field testing (central and peripheral), Ocular motility assessment, Color vision testing, Tonometry, tonography, and intraocular pressure measurements, Pupil evaluation, reaction testing, and pharmacologic dilation
  • Prepare patients for examinations and clearly explain procedures
  • Obtain, document, and maintain accurate patient medical histories
  • Manage patient flow and ensure efficient clinic operations
  • Coordinate laboratory tests, imaging, and outpatient procedures
  • Assist in scheduling surgeries, admissions, and diagnostic studies
  • Support ophthalmic surgical and minor in-office procedures, including laser treatments
  • Sterilize, prepare, and maintain ophthalmic instruments and equipment
  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot diagnostic equipment (e.g., slit lamp, keratometer, tonometer)
  • Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and properly organized
  • Provide patient education and ensure comfort throughout visits
  • Adhere to all clinical safety standards, infection control protocols, and HIPAA compliance
