About The Position

Navitas Healthcare, LLC is seeking a Certified Ophthalmic Technician for an exciting Travel or Local job in New York, NY. This position involves performing preliminary eye screening tests, obtaining patient medical history, managing patient flow, preparing patients for examinations and procedures, maintaining ophthalmic equipment, and assisting with minor office procedures and surgical support.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills with patients and healthcare staff
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • Ophthalmic Technician Certification (mandatory)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ophthalmic diagnostic procedures preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform preliminary eye screening tests for physician review, including visual field tests, color vision tests, tonometry, ocular motility tests, and pupil assessments
  • Obtain and document patient medical history and clinical information
  • Manage patient flow and coordinate diagnostic procedures and testing schedules
  • Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and surgeries
  • Explain diagnostic procedures to patients to ensure comfort and understanding
  • Calibrate, maintain, and clean ophthalmic equipment (slit lamp, tonometer, keratometer, lensometer, etc.)
  • Stock and prepare exam rooms and ophthalmic supplies
  • Assist with minor office procedures, laser treatments, and surgical support as needed
  • Sterilize and prepare instruments for ophthalmic procedures
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
