About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Ophthalmic Technician to support physicians in an outpatient eye care setting. This role involves performing diagnostic eye tests, assisting with patient care, and maintaining ophthalmic equipment while ensuring an efficient clinical workflow.

Requirements

  • Prior experience as an Ophthalmic Technician preferred
  • Experience in outpatient or specialty clinic settings preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Ophthalmic Technician Certification required

Responsibilities

  • Perform preliminary eye exams including visual field testing, tonometry, color vision, and ocular motility assessments
  • Assist physicians with patient flow, procedures, and documentation
  • Obtain and record patient medical histories
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
  • Clean, sterilize, and set up instruments for clinical use
  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot ophthalmic equipment (e.g., slit lamp, tonometer, keratometer)
  • Coordinate lab tests, imaging, and procedure scheduling
  • Ensure exam rooms are stocked and organized
  • Educate patients on procedures and provide reassurance
  • Assist with minor procedures, including laser treatments
