About The Position

This is a student employment opportunity for an Operations Support Intern within the Office of Community Engagement. The role involves assisting with non-clinical audits of electronic medical record documentation, reviewing records for completeness and consistency, and entering audit results into tracking tools. The intern will also help identify documentation trends, prepare basic summaries and reports, organize audit files, and support workflow-improvement projects. Adherence to HIPAA, privacy, security, and confidentiality requirements is essential.

Requirements

  • Interest in healthcare administration, public health, data analytics, or operations.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to follow established procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; comfort learning an EMR system.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and work accurately with sensitive information.
  • Must be eligible for Federal Work-Study.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with approved, non-clinical audits of electronic medical record documentation using established checklists.
  • Review records for completeness, consistency, and required administrative elements under staff supervision.
  • Enter audit results into tracking tools and help identify recurring documentation trends.
  • Prepare basic summaries, reports, and follow-up lists for operational review.
  • Organize audit files and maintain accurate, secure documentation.
  • Support workflow-improvement and other operations projects as assigned.
  • Follow HIPAA, privacy, security, and confidentiality requirements at all times.
