Operations Supervisor Second Shift
About The Position
The Operations Supervisor leads and owns a production department at AmeriLux, overseeing second-shift operations from 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. The role is responsible for growing the department and its performance in safety, quality, delivery, and cost while helping the team reach its potential. The supervisor oversees daily production against schedule and demand, workplace safety and OSHA compliance, product quality, labor planning, and department costs and equipment uptime. The role also involves supervising and developing production employees and continuously improving processes, layout, and throughput. Performance is measured through production and fill rates, safety results, quality and scrap metrics, labor cost, employee turnover, and time to productivity.
Requirements
- Experience leading a production or manufacturing department, including direct people management.
- Working knowledge of OSHA and ownership of a safety program.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all second-shift operations, scheduled from 3 p.m. to 2 a.m.
- Manage daily production output against schedule and demand.
- Maintain the safety of everyone on the floor, including OSHA compliance and incident response.
- Manage product quality and scrap or rework rates.
- Plan labor, staffing levels, and overtime.
- Directly supervise, coach, and manage the performance of the production team.
- Manage the department budget, cost per unit, and equipment uptime.
- Continuously improve processes, layout, and throughput.
- Deliver on-time production and fill rate targets.
- Monitor recordable incident rates, safety audit results, scrap, rework, first-pass quality, labor cost as a percentage of output, turnover, and time-to-productivity.
