About The Position

The Operations Manager, based in Melrose Park, plans, directs, and coordinates facility operations. The role focuses on improving performance, productivity, and efficiency through effective methods and strategies. It manages daily logistics activities and customer coordination, responds to operational issues, reviews results against targets, and provides leadership to Warehouse Managers and/or the team.

Requirements

• Progressive experience performing professional-level operational and plant management duties, preferably in the automotive or logistics industry.
• Ability to read and analyze complex documents and respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
• Ability to write documents using original or innovative techniques or style and deliver effective, persuasive presentations on complex or controversial topics to top management and customers.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and work with abstract and concrete variables.
• Proficient personal computer skills, including email, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheets, and graphics.

• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily logistics operation activities to maximize scheduling and delivery of commodities to the customer.
• Coordinate with the customer on scheduling and schedule adherence; provide input on local conditions, identify needs, and receive direction on real-time staffing changes.
• Enact contingency plans and direct or escalate activities during system problems, disasters, and other issues; troubleshoot, raise issues to local and senior management, and contribute to post-mortem analysis and process improvements.
• Review performance against targets, take corrective measures when authorized, and escalate as needed.
• Provide effective leadership to Warehouse Managers and/or the team, enforce company standards, and act as a role model.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
