About The Position

Central Transport’s 16-week Operations Management Trainee Program is designed for recently graduated or soon-to-be graduating seniors who want to begin a career in logistics. Trainees receive extensive hands-on instruction at the company’s Corporate Office in Michigan and at several terminals across the country. Upon completing the program, graduates will have the operational and managerial skills to join the terminal network as supervisors or managers.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Career interest in transportation, supply chain, or logistics.
Effective organizational and planning skills.
Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Willingness to travel as needed for training; company assistance is provided.
Willingness to work first, second, and third shifts within a 50-hour work week.
Willingness to relocate upon completion of the training program, temporarily or permanently.

Responsibilities

Participate in the structured training program and learn linehaul, city dispatch, inbound, outbound, and HUB operations.
Develop the knowledge and ability to prepare and plan daily resource utilization to support consistent, efficient operations.
Learn on-the-job safety methods for the safe handling and loading of hazardous materials.
Develop a strong understanding of the company’s operational model, policies, and procedures.
Complete department or area knowledge indicators, develop new indicators, and develop process and procedure changes.
