About The Position

Thermo Fisher Scientific's internship program is designed to identify and develop future leadership talent. Interns who perform exceptionally well, show leadership potential, and align with the company's values may be considered for full-time opportunities post-graduation, including entry into Leadership Development Programs (LDPs) or other early career roles. As a global company, interns must be geographically flexible and mobile for their assignment and future employment. Potential placements depend on business needs and organizational priorities. This role requires onsite and in-office work as an essential function.

These 10-week internships offer students the option to start on May 24, 2027, or June 14, 2027. All projects are strategically and/or operationally significant to the assigned business unit.

Requirements

• Undergraduate student completing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Systems Engineering, Operations Engineering, Operational leadership or related field with a graduation date between December 2027 – June 2028.
• Previous related internships and / or work experience totaling 1+ years experience required.
• Proven leadership experience through student organizations, athletics, Greek life, community service, volunteer organizations, campus programs, military service, or other leadership roles.
• A track record of influencing others, leading initiatives, driving results, and creating positive impact within teams and organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, adapt to changing priorities, and solve complex problems.
• Evidence of grit, resilience, and perseverance when facing challenges, setbacks, or competing priorities.
• Strong learning agility, intellectual curiosity, and an innovative mindset.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills and emotional intelligence, with the ability to build relationships across diverse teams.
• Geographic mobility and flexibility required to pursue internship and future career opportunities in locations aligned with business needs.
• Onsite and in-office work is an essential function of this role and is required throughout the program and in future placements to support collaboration across businesses, functions, and locations.

Responsibilities

• Supporting industrial and manufacturing engineering projects across site operations
• Assisting with process engineering activities, including process optimization, capability improvement, and troubleshooting
• Supporting Lean / Continuous Improvement / PPI initiatives to improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost
• Conducting data analysis, time studies, process mapping, and identification of improvement opportunities
• Supporting implementation of standard work, visual management, and other Lean tools
• Participating in cross-functional improvement projects with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain
• Supporting project implementation and tracking measurable operational improvements across Bridgewater and Ward Hill
