About The Position

This co-op position involves working with Manufacturing Engineering on daily tasks, including design projects, writing work instructions, quality alerts, change requests, tooling/fixture drawings, and other documentation. The role also includes developing and implementing solutions to safety, quality, and production challenges, updating value stream maps and shop floor layouts, performing time studies, and participating in kaizen events to eliminate waste and improve processes. The co-op will also assist with research, testing, evaluations, process documentation, data analysis, manufacturing audits, and process improvement projects. The position is for a Spring Semester co-op with a January 2027 start date.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in a Bachelor’s Degree program in Engineering
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Analytical and decision-making skills
  • PC skills including Microsoft Office
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Safety conscious
  • Self-motivated and disciplined with a hands-on approach to problem solving
  • Commitment to full-time (40 hour) Summer/Fall Co-op experience in Sherman, TX from January 2027-August 2027.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship for this role will not be provided

Nice To Haves

  • Enrollment in a Bachelor’s Degree program in Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering
  • Junior or senior standing
  • Direct experience with AutoCAD/SOLIDWORKS and the development of drawings
  • Six months generalized work experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • General Lean Manufacturing knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Complete various design projects, writing work instructions, quality alerts, change requests, tooling/fixture drawings, and other documentation as required.
  • Develop and implement solutions to safety, quality, and production challenges.
  • Update value stream maps, shop floor layouts, and perform time studies.
  • Participate in kaizen events to eliminate waste and improve processes.
  • Assist with lean initiatives, and document workflow and results.
  • Assist with various research, testing, and evaluations.
  • Process documentation, conduct data analysis, and perform manufacturing audits.
  • Assist with process improvement projects tied to manufacturing.
  • Complete projects as assigned by Engineering Manager.
