About The Position

The Operations Associate creates an outstanding customer experience by performing store operations functions. This is an early-morning position working with a team to complete functions before the store opens. The role includes assisting customers, handling merchandise pricing and signing, replenishing and restocking the sales floor, receiving and unloading merchandise, maintaining safe and organized backroom standards, supporting omnichannel services, and executing merchandise placement plans. Associates participate in ongoing learning about merchandise, shrink, safety, productivity, and other business processes.

The position calls for efficient, effective work and sound decisions that support sales, profit, and customer service. Associates are expected to take ownership of their actions, build positive and inclusive relationships, and proactively improve the customer experience with energy and urgency.

The listed pay range is USD $17.25 to $21.57 per hour. If eligible, benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage; term life insurance; paid vacation and holidays; a 401(k) with company match; and an associate discount on JCPenney merchandise. Eligible associates may receive eight paid holidays during the calendar year, and store hourly associates scheduled to work on a designated holiday receive additional compensation.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of retail experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service and assist customers while working throughout the store.
• Change ticket prices and merchandise signage across the store.
• Pull and prepare merchandise for the sales floor to replenish and restock products, helping ensure customers can find needed styles and sizes.
• Work with co-workers to unload trucks and prepare merchandise in the backroom.
• Keep the stockroom safe, clean, and organized.
• Contribute to omnichannel efforts, including Buy Online Pickup in Store, Ship from Store, Order Delivery and Returns, shipping online orders, and merchandise receiving.
• Execute leadership's merchandise placement plans efficiently and in detail, maintaining merchandising standards as goods flow to the sales floor.
• Learn about merchandise, shrink, safety, productivity, and other business processes through peers and training materials.
• Solve problems and make decisions that support sales, profit, and customer service; work efficiently and effectively.
• Provide great customer service, cooperate with others, build positive and inclusive relationships, and take accountability for actions and outcomes.
• Find ways to improve the customer experience and take appropriate action with energy and urgency.
