About The Position

The Opening Breakfast Cook is responsible for preparing menu items in assigned areas such as meats, vegetables, bakery, and salads. This role requires the ability to multitask efficiently and accurately to maintain stock levels. Cooks must be able to read and understand English menus, including basic measurements and equivalents, and possess conversational English skills. They are expected to visually inspect food, discard any items that do not meet standards, and inform management of discarded items. Maintaining a clean work area, including walk-ins and reach-ins, is also a key responsibility. A thorough knowledge of food items and recipes is necessary for preparation.

Requirements

  • Speak and understand conversational English.
  • Read menus in English, including comprehension of basic measurements and equivalents.
  • Able to multi-task and work efficiently, effectively, accurately, and quickly to maintain stock of menu items within assigned area.
  • Regularly stand for long periods of time.
  • Bend, stoop, turn, talk, walk, walk on uneven ground.
  • Carry and lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Team lift is required for anything over twenty-five (25) pounds or any awkward lifting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare menu items in assigned areas (meats, vegetables, bakery, salads) according to projected ratios and by 10 minutes prior to opening.
  • Visually observe food and discard any items that do not meet standards, informing management of discarded items.
  • Keep assigned area clean and clutter-free, including walk-ins and reach-ins, using restaurant-issued cleaning supplies.
  • Maintain master knowledge of food items and recipes to prepare food.
  • Assist in all back-of-house areas (salads, meats, vegetables) as needed, including preparation and closing.
  • Discard, restock, and maintain all food items during closing.
  • Transition the next shift cook on the current day's progress, menu items, and completed set-ups.
  • Prepare set-ups, maintain organized walk-ins, and complete cleaning/operational checklists.
  • Maintain attendance in accordance with the employee handbook.
  • Perform other duties, tasks, and/or projects as assigned.
