The On Duty Supervisor (ODS) is responsible for providing and directing fast, efficient Advanced Life Support to the ill and injured. This role involves directing, monitoring, communicating with, and evaluating all field employees in their assigned area. The ODS acts as a liaison with patients, public safety agencies, training institutions, hospital personnel, and other system users. They ensure the maintenance of quality field operations through daily contact, oversight, communication, and evaluation. Key responsibilities include ensuring all Patient Care Reports (PCRs) and other field paperwork are reconciled daily, and that all operational response exceptions are brought to closure with appropriate action. The ODS also provides staff counseling and guidance regarding PEMS operations, promptly investigates incidents involving assigned units or personnel, and ensures adequate levels of staffing, equipment, and medical supplies for field units. This role implements and enforces company policies and standards, maintains communication with other agencies and departments, and serves on committees to set policies and generate ideas. The ODS prepares reports and manages projects as assigned by the Operations Manager or Director of Operations, and maintains availability during disaster situations or mass casualty incidents. They attend scheduled meetings, comply with all local, state, and federal employment laws and company policies, and are responsible for supervising, directing, and developing subordinates, including completing performance reviews and counseling sessions. The ODS directs PEMS resources during mass casualty/disaster operations, mentors employees, and champions affirmative action efforts. They may prepare employee evaluations and field crew contact reports, and must maintain strict compliance with all Pafford Policies & Procedures and state/federal regulations. This role may perform related duties as assigned and follows 5 daily directives.
