About The Position

SANY's Utica Academy of Science C.S. Junior-Senior High School (UASCS JSHS) is excited to announce the opening for On-Call Substitutes for the 2026-2027 school year. We have a great environment for new teachers and encourage experienced teachers to apply! New York State Certification preferred!

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Fingerprint clearance through NYS Department of Education
• Growth mindset, flexible and ok with change

• The ability to take feedback well and immediately implement
• Comfortable with the use of data and analytics to help drive instruction and promote learning

Nice To Haves

• New York State Certification preferred
• Certification in ELA and Math a plus
• Experience with a diverse population of students or in an urban setting a plus
• Prior teaching experience preferred and novice teachers encouraged to apply!

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation and instruction
• Work closely with small groups of students and provide intervention
• Actively participate in weekly meetings and attend all school-wide events
• Implement classroom policies and procedures
• Lead students to and from specials/lunch
• Effectively manage student behavior
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned

Benefits

• The compensation for an on-call substitute teacher is $160 per diem.
