About The Position

The Brattleboro Food Co-op is seeking energetic, team-oriented Front End Staff to cover team member shifts during vacations, leaves, and peak seasons. This on-call role offers schedule flexibility, with shifts available to fit around the employee’s availability; some shifts may be scheduled in advance. Cashiers serve customers in a friendly, high-energy setting and may assist with opening or closing the store and other assigned side work. The position pays $16.50 per hour and is represented by United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 1459.

Requirements

• Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
• Must be able to pick up shifts on an on-call basis; some shifts may be scheduled in advance.
• Ability to use a scanner and count the cash drawer at the end of a shift.
• Reliability, punctuality, and strong communication skills.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to provide outstanding customer service.
• A positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Process customer purchases using a point-of-sale system.
• Handle cash and credit/debit card transactions.
• Provide customers with an excellent customer experience.
• Answer customer questions or find answers to their questions.
• Close out the cash till at the end of the shift.
• May help open and close the store.
• Complete assigned side work and keep the work area tidy.
