About The Position

Manages and coordinates the operational activities of a funeral home, cemetery and/or crematory operation. Ensures the highest quality services and products, to satisfy the need of any client family, to maximize budgeted profit plans for the location, and maintain a positive employee relations atmosphere.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or completion of a diploma-training program at a college or technical school
  • Two (2) years bookkeeping, general office, clerical accounting, and Accounts Payable experience required
  • Solid working knowledge of computers, typewriter, MS Office, e-mail, internet and basic office equipment required
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of accounting functions including collections of accounts receivable, verification and payment of accounts payable invoices, control of receipt and deposit of cash payments, petty cash management, reconciliations, cash advance checks, same day check requests, bank deposits, verification/auditing of cash disbursement reports, and tracking Capital Expenditure Authorizations (CEAs).
  • Coordination of operational activities including ordering supplies, inventory counts, processing merchandise orders (memorials, caskets), controlling storage inventory (vaults, markers, urns, caskets), overseeing installation funeral-related orders and orders to grounds/maintenance departments, and supporting location management to ensure timely completion of contracts and work orders with proper documentation.
  • Scheduling incoming orders and drivers for ambulate service, completing various funeral/cemetery reports and files accurately, and supporting Sales as necessary.
  • Assuring compliance with all Company policies and procedures, including Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) audit, Dignity University (DU) training, Interment Verification Training (IVT) audits, and Day Sales Outstanding’s (DSO) related to financial and administrative areas.
  • Assisting in preparing and/or overseeing all funeral/cemetery-related forms, reviewing time cards, and administering corporate payroll policies and procedures.
  • Administering local Human Resources (HR) processes such as processing new hire paperwork, verifying pre-need sales licenses, maintaining employee files and other confidential files (I9’s, etc.), and ensuring new associates receive new hire orientation.
  • Pulling monthly reports from reporting site and creating stack ranking reports for key performance indicators, maintaining vehicle records/licenses, processing expense reports, updating General Price Lists (GPLs), and managing all Alarm Systems (codes, working order, etc.).
  • Assisting with funeral services and “Making Everlasting Memories” (MEMs) as needed, coordinating daily activities with the business unit and other departments, and training associates in the proper administration of policies and procedures.
  • Servicing customers by interacting with families in a professional and compassionate manner, maintaining and updating customer records, and updating the company website with current obituaries and ensuring obituaries are placed in newspapers.
  • Providing a collaborative, productive workplace environment for associate growth and development that instills pride, a sense of ownership, and the challenge to associates to exceed expectations.
  • Behaving in a supportive way to enrich the work environment and using customer feedback in conjunction with Sales to improve location administration and strengthen individual associate performance.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
