About The Position

The Office Assistant III is an advanced journey-level position in the Office Assistant series, performing highly responsible, specialized, and technical office support activities under limited supervision. The role explains rules, policies, and operations related to department records, programs, and services. Depending on the assignment, the incumbent may serve as a lead worker for office support staff, conduct initial application screening and initiate cases through automated systems, or apply detailed subject-matter knowledge of a complex program area or specialized record-keeping system. Screening may be part of the role, but it is less significant than for a Screener in Social Services, whose primary responsibility is screening. The position is located in Inyo County, California, and requires in-person attendance; teleworking and remote work are not available. Interviews are conducted in person. Spanish bilingual ability is preferred but not required. A valid driver’s license is required at appointment, and employees may also be required to drive their own vehicle and provide proof of insurance and DMV clearance. The position may require pre-employment drug testing, a physical examination, fingerprinting, and background investigation, including additional checks if the position involves access to federal tax information. Current and future vacancies are contingent on continued funding.
