About The Position

Telnyx is hiring an Off-Page AEO/SEO Manager to own its off-page AEO and SEO program. The role focuses on ensuring Telnyx is present and cited in third-party sources that developers and AI systems rely on, including publications, listicles, newsletters, Reddit, and X. The manager will lead link building, digital PR, guest content, AI citations, partnerships, brand mentions, and community engagement, working hands-on and using AI agents and automation to handle repetitive tasks. The role is measured by outcomes including citation share, referral traffic, signups, and contact-sales leads. The manager will develop relationships with editors, authors, creators, and developer communities; create and place technical content; coordinate research and benchmark assets with Content and DevRel; manage link vendors; and establish documented, automated workflows and reporting. They will also run Reddit and X engagement, including responding to developer questions and complaints, routing support issues, and following up publicly when they are resolved. The position reports to the Senior Director of AEO.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5+ years of experience in off-page SEO, digital PR, or link building; ideally at a developer tool, API, cloud, or PLG SaaS company.
  • Personally built links, secured placements, and run digital PR campaigns, with evidence of domains won and traffic generated.
  • Hands-on experience tracking AI citations, understanding why sources are selected, and getting a brand cited.
  • Knowledge of publications, newsletters, subreddits, X accounts, and developer communities relevant to engineers.
  • Ability to write personalized outreach and build relationships with editors, maintainers, and newsletter authors.
  • Familiarity with Reddit and X community norms and the ability to reply helpfully with clear disclosure and identify valuable threads.
  • Strong technical writing skills, including the ability to turn technical topics into publishable guest content.
  • Ability to work independently without an agency safety net or an outreach team.
  • Experience building automated workflows for prospecting, listening, follow-ups, or reporting using AI agents or other automation.
  • Ability to work with backlink data in Ahrefs or Semrush, AI citation data, and Search Console, and connect results to signups and pipeline.
  • Sound judgment on link quality, including enforcing relevance, traffic, and authority standards and avoiding link farms and private blog networks.
  • Ability to manage a vendor relationship alongside the core work.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in telecom, CPaaS, networking, or AI infrastructure.
  • A demonstrated history of good-faith participation and community standing on Reddit or Hacker News.
  • Experience building listening or outreach automation with AI agents, scripts, Reddit or X APIs, or Zapier-style workflows.
  • Experience with AI visibility tools such as AI Clicks, Profound, or Peec, or a self-built system for tracking cited sources by prompt.
  • Original research or data journalism that earned coverage or links.
  • Contacts at developer publications, newsletters, or podcasts.
  • Some coding ability, such as Python or SQL, for data extraction, report scripting, or checking placements at scale.
  • Experience with review and comparison sites such as G2 and Capterra, or with getting products included in 'best X alternatives' listicles.
  • Knowledge of basic technical SEO, including canonicals, redirects, and indexing.
  • Startup or first-hire experience building a function from scratch with little structure.

Responsibilities

  • Own off-page SEO and AEO, including link building, digital PR, partnerships, guest contributions, and brand mentions.
  • Increase Telnyx’s visibility and citations in AI answers from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews.
  • Use AI citation tracking to identify target publications, listicles, subreddits, and creators, particularly where competitors appear but Telnyx does not.
  • Write and place technical guest posts, partner articles, and contributed pieces on sites used by developers.
  • Pitch Telnyx benchmarks, product launches, and data to developer-focused publications, newsletters, podcasts, and roundups, and build relationships with editors and authors.
  • Partner with Content and DevRel on original research, latency and cost benchmarks, and technical deep-dives that earn links and citations.
  • Manage link vendors by setting monthly targets and anchor plans, enforcing quality standards for domain rating, traffic, and relevance, checking placements, and tracking cost per link.
  • Build documented, automated workflows for prospecting, outreach, follow-ups, and reporting, using AI agents for repetitive tasks.
  • Run structured experiments on content formats and third-party placement types, and document what improves citation share.
  • Report weekly on acquired domains, citation share, share of voice, AI referral traffic, signups, and contact-sales leads.
  • Build and run Reddit and X engagement, including identifying valuable threads and competitor mentions, responding helpfully with disclosure, selecting priority communities and topics, and improving alert scoring and reply playbooks.
  • Respond promptly to Telnyx complaints and support issues on Reddit and X, route them to Support or the relevant product team, and follow up publicly after resolution.
