About The Position

Peak Rehabilitation Hospital, operated jointly with Lifepoint Health and Duke Health, WakeMed, is hiring a full-time Occupational Therapist to provide inpatient rehabilitation care. The role assesses patients’ ability to perform occupational skills safely and effectively, develops and carries out individualized plans of care, and monitors progress. The Occupational Therapist also educates patients and their families or caregivers, supports discharge planning, recommends adaptive equipment and support programs, and supervises and delegates care to certified occupational therapy assistants and therapy technicians in accordance with applicable laws and standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
• State licensure for Occupational Therapy.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
• Critical-thinking skills and decisive judgment.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ ability to safely and effectively perform occupational skills.
• Design plans of care, including the type and frequency of treatment.
• Implement treatment plans using appropriate modalities.
• Document subjective and objective findings about patient progress.
• Monitor and modify plans of care as needed.
• Seek consultation as necessary.
• Educate patients and their families or caregivers about patient deficits.
• Plan or assist with patient discharge from therapy services and the treatment setting.
• Provide information about appropriate selection and use of adaptive equipment and support programs.
• Supervise and delegate care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants and therapy technicians according to licensing laws, state regulations, and practice standards.
