About The Position

The OB Technician is a professional caregiver working under the guidance and supervision of a Registered Nurse and responsible for providing assigned care according to scope of practice. Has adequate knowledge to approach patients of all age groups. All employees will continually monitor and adhere to safety responsibilities and initiatives. This role assists with patient preparation, positioning, and surgical procedures. The OB Technician prepares, counts, and maintains surgical instruments and equipment, and maintains and monitors the sterile field throughout procedures. They pass instruments, retract tissue, and operate surgical equipment as directed. Additionally, the OB Technician assists with vaginal deliveries and care of mothers and newborns as needed, and provides support in Women’s Health, Pediatrics, Well-Baby, and Level II Nursery areas as assigned. They are responsible for stocking rooms, ensuring necessary supplies and equipment are available, completing charges and assigned clerical duties, maintaining patient privacy, safety, and confidentiality, and following hospital infection control, safety, and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification
  • Basic life support- Applicants will have 30 days from their hired date to provide completion of this certification if they don’t have it already.
  • ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of Assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Follows hospital infection control, safety, and regulatory standards.
