About The Position

The Nutrition Services Tech participates in all aspects of patient meal service at Corewell Health. Duties include answering calls and entering patient selections, assembling and delivering meal trays, collecting used trays, washing and sanitizing dishes and equipment, and managing stock. The role works with other team members to support continuity of service and a positive work environment. No prior experience is required; training and support are provided, with opportunities to learn new skills and develop a career.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, speak, and communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient meal service, including accurate portioning and presentation of menu items, setting up the tray assembly station, and assembling trays.
• Transport tray carts and deliver trays to patients; collect soiled trays and return them to the kitchen.
• Stock, distribute, and collect patient menus.
• Answer calls on multiple phone lines and enter patient selections into a computer while observing dietary restrictions and special needs.
• Obtain and document patient food and beverage selections, intake, and other preferences as directed.
• Perform dish room duties, including breaking down soiled trays and washing, sanitizing, and properly storing pots and pans.
• Operate the dish machine and handle and stock clean service ware and equipment according to safety and sanitation standards.
• Collect and dispose of trash; sweep and mop floors; clean and sanitize kitchen equipment.
• Maintain the work area, including requisitioning, receiving, rotating, and putting away stock according to safety and sanitation standards.
• Transport food carts within the department and to patient care areas or other assigned locations.
• Work independently and as part of a team.
• Identify and communicate opportunities for waste reduction and service improvements to leadership according to established guidelines.
• Meet productivity, regulatory compliance, and service standards for the assigned area.
