About The Position

This is a substitute position within Nutrition Services, specifically for a Substitute Nutrition Services Associate. The role involves working on an as-needed basis, with an estimated 3-5 hours per day. The effective date of employment is as soon as possible. The position requires adherence to food service manager's instructions for food production, preparation, and service, as well as maintaining department standards for meal accounting (reimbursement and ala carte sales). Responsibilities also include cleaning the kitchen, serving area, cafeteria, and dishroom, and adhering to safety standards in food handling, preparation, and storage. The role emphasizes efficient work, cooperation with colleagues, attendance at job-related training, and positive interaction with students. Additional duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be a high school graduate or hold GED.
  • Basic arithmetic, reading, and writing skills
  • Ability to safely lift up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to stand on a hard surface for 3-6 hours
  • Ability to perform bending, twisting, and repetitive motions.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative to complete job duties within the contracted hours.
  • Must be able to work independently and manage their time efficiently.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in institutional food service operations and/or school foodservice helpful.
  • Previous knowledge of point of sale experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency working with a culturally, ethnically, racially and socioeconomically diverse school community is preferred.

Responsibilities

Benefits

  • The rate increases to $19.00 per hour after 30 days of employment with the district.
