About The Position

Meritus is seeking a part-time Nutrition Services Assistant to join its Nutrition Services team. The role supports food service for patients, employees, and guests while maintaining food safety, sanitation, and kitchen cleanliness standards. The schedule is 32 hours bi-weekly, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The assistant prepares, serves, and delivers meals according to daily production sheets; sanitizes kitchenware, preparation areas, and service stations; safely handles and stores food; and supports infection control. The position requires following written and verbal instructions, performing basic math, and working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Physical requirements include extended standing and walking, moving items up to 50 pounds, and tolerating kitchen temperature fluctuations and noise.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in food service, customer service, or healthcare preferred.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to weigh and measure ingredients and perform basic math.
Comfort working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to lift, carry, and move items up to 50 pounds.
Ability to tolerate temperature fluctuations and kitchen noise.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Prepare, serve, and deliver meals following daily production sheets.
Sanitize kitchenware, food preparation areas, and service stations.
Handle food safely in accordance with health and hygiene guidelines, including HACCP and TJC requirements.
Label, date, and store food properly using the First In/First Out (FIFO) method.
Support infection control and maintain kitchen cleanliness.
Follow safety and sanitation protocols.
