About The Position

As a Nutrition Services Aide at Encompass Health, you will help prepare therapeutic and modified diets for patients and make meals for employees, visitors, and special functions. The role supports patient well-being through food preparation and meal service.

You will maintain appropriate temperatures for hot and cold foods; interpret recipes and follow written or verbal orders, requests, and instructions; portion, weigh, and garnish food according to menus and dietary instructions; and assemble patient trays on schedule. Duties also include assisting patients with menus, delivering late trays and requested supplements or nourishments, breaking down carts, removing tray scraps, and cleaning and sanitizing assigned areas. The role requires organizing, planning, and managing time effectively to complete assignments.

Requirements

• Possession of a food handler's permit, if mandated by state or county regulations.

Nice To Haves

• Training in food preparation for therapeutic diets.
• Recent institutional cooking experience.
• Special function cooking experience.
• Knowledge of food safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Maintain proper temperatures for hot and cold foods.

• Break down carts and remove scraps from patient trays.
• Assemble and deliver late patient trays, supplements, nourishments, and special requests as needed.
• Portion, weigh, and garnish food according to menus and specific diet instructions.
• Assemble patient trays to meet timetables.
• Assist patients in completing menus.
• Clean and sanitize assigned areas.
• Organize, plan, and manage time effectively to complete assignments.
