About The Position

As a Nutrition Services Aide at Encompass Health, you will help prepare therapeutic and modified diets for patients and make meals for employees, visitors, and special functions. The role contributes to patient well-being while supporting meal service and kitchen operations. You will maintain appropriate food temperatures, prepare and portion food according to menus and diet instructions, assemble patient trays, and help keep assigned areas clean and sanitary. Work may include weekdays or weekends and evening or night shifts as needed.

Requirements

• Possess a food handler's permit if mandated by state or county regulations.

Nice To Haves

• Training in food preparation for therapeutic diets.
• Recent institutional cooking experience.
• Special function cooking experience.
• Knowledge of food safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Maintain proper temperatures for hot and cold foods.
• Interpret written recipes and follow written or verbal orders, requests, and instructions.
• Break down carts and remove scraps from patient trays.
• Assemble and deliver late patient trays, supplements, nourishments, and special requests as needed.
• Portion, weigh, and garnish food according to menus and specific diet instructions.
• Assemble patient trays to meet timetables.
• Assist patients in completing menus.
• Clean and sanitize all assigned areas.
• Organize, plan, and manage time effectively to complete assignments.
• Help prepare therapeutic and modified diets and meals for employees, visitors, and special functions.
