About The Position

The Nutrition Services Aide helps prepare therapeutic and modified diets for patients and prepares meals for employees, visitors, and special functions. The role includes maintaining food temperatures, interpreting recipes and instructions, portioning and garnishing food according to menus and diet requirements, assembling patient trays on schedule, and assisting patients with menu completion. The aide also handles tray and cart breakdown, delivers late trays and special requests, and cleans and sanitizes assigned areas.

Requirements

• Possess a food handler's permit if mandated by state or county regulations.

Nice To Haves

• Training in food preparation for therapeutic diets.
• Recent institutional cooking experience and special function cooking experience.
• Knowledge of food safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Maintain proper temperatures for hot and cold foods.
• Interpret written recipes and follow written and verbal orders, requests, and instructions.
• Break down carts and remove scraps from patient trays.
• Assemble and deliver late patient trays, supplements, nourishments, and special requests as needed.
• Portion, weigh, and garnish food according to menus and specific diet instructions.
• Assemble patient trays to meet timetables.
• Assist patients in completing menus.
• Clean and sanitize all assigned areas.
• Organize, plan, and manage time effectively to complete assignments.
