About The Position

Under direction, the Nutrition Services Assistant I performs food preparation, cooking, and serving duties at Edgewood School. The position works from 8 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. and involves preparing and serving food to students and staff, maintaining sanitary work and serving areas, and operating standard kitchen equipment. Requirements

• Submit a Classified EdJoin application and resume; reference or recommendation letters may be included if applicable.
• Any combination of training and experience sufficient to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed in the job description.
• Complete required pre-employment steps upon recommendation for employment and before formal Board of Education approval: a Mantoux Tuberculin Test within 60 days of hire, drug screening, fingerprint clearance, and specified district training and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and serve food under direction.
• Set up the serving area, steam tables, and ice trays, and set out serving trays, food, and beverages.
• Serve food to students and staff according to established procedures.
• Assist in assembling short-order foods and toss salads.
• Maintain sanitary work and serving areas.
• Wash and clean steam tables; clean and store utensils, trays, and kitchen equipment.
• Operate standard kitchen equipment, including utensils, a can opener, an oven, and a cash register.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
