About The Position
Under direction, the Nutrition Services Assistant I performs food preparation, cooking, and serving duties for students and staff. The position sets up food-serving areas and equipment, serves meals according to established procedures, helps assemble short-order foods, and maintains sanitary work and serving areas. The role also operates standard kitchen equipment and performs related duties as assigned. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Applicants must apply through EdJoin and attach the requested documents. Before formal Board of Education approval, recommended candidates must complete the listed pre-employment steps, including a tuberculin test, drug screening, fingerprint clearance, and required certifications and trainings.
Requirements
- Any combination of training and experience sufficient to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed in the job description.

Responsibilities
- Perform food preparation, cooking, and serving duties under direction.
- Set up serving areas, steam tables, and ice trays; set out serving trays, food, and beverages.
- Serve food to students and staff according to established procedures.
- Assist in assembling short-order foods and toss salads.
- Maintain sanitary work and serving areas.
- Wash and clean steam tables; clean and store utensils, trays, and kitchen equipment.
- Operate standard kitchen equipment, including utensils, a can opener, an oven, and a cash register.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
