About The Position

Under direction, perform food preparation, cooking, and serving duties at West Covina High School. Prepare and set up the serving area, serve students and staff according to established procedures, and help maintain clean and sanitary work and serving areas. The position is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Applicants must apply through EdJoin and attach the requested documents online.

Requirements

• Submit a completed classified EdJoin application.

• Provide reference or recommendation letters, if applicable.
• Any combination of training and experience sufficient to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed in the job description.
• Complete required pre-employment steps, including a Mantoux Tuberculin Test within 60 days of hire, drug screening at a District-approved facility, and fingerprint clearance.
• Complete Child Abuse Mandated Reporter, Bloodborne Pathogens, Injury and Illness Prevention Program, School Bullying, Harassment, Cybersecurity Overview, and Email and Messaging training/certifications.

Responsibilities

• Set up the serving area, including steam tables and ice trays, and set out serving trays, food, and beverages.
• Serve food to students and staff according to established procedures.
• Assist in assembling short-order foods and toss salads.
• Maintain sanitary work and serving areas; wash and clean steam tables and clean and store utensils, trays, and kitchen equipment.
• Operate standard kitchen equipment, including utensils, a can opener, an oven, and a cash register.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
