Nutrition Representatives provide customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff, helping ensure a high-quality food service experience. They may work in two or more areas of the department: Delivery, Assembly, and Call Center. The role uses electronic health records, nutrition software, and related devices to support patient nutrition in inpatient and outpatient settings, process payments, respond to customer concerns, and provide information about diet orders. Responsibilities include interpreting diet orders, conducting simple food preparation, and delivering meals to patients and families throughout the main campus. Representatives set up meals in patient care areas according to standard work, verify patient identity, communicate directly with patients, coordinate with nurses and other clinical staff, and pick up soiled trays. They also assemble, deliver, and retrieve catering orders at the main campus and outside Seattle Children’s facilities. In call-center work, Representatives interpret orders from the Electronic Health Record, escalate interface issues, and receive and process food orders, primarily by phone, for patients, visitors, and staff. They help customers with restricted diets select appropriate foods, maintain accurate patient information in nutrition software, and follow call-center standards. They communicate with hospital disciplines about Electronic Health Record orders and patients’ nutrition care plans, and process payments using methods such as credit cards, cash, and other financial aid benefits. Other related tasks may be assigned.
