About The Position
The Nutrition Operator secures patient meal selections and responds to special requests and needs through telephone or face-to-face interactions. The role supports patients by providing appropriate menu choices within prescribed diet guidelines and by coordinating with nursing to help ensure diet prescriptions and food needs are accurate and met. The position is at Mayo Clinic Hospital - Saint Mary's Campus in Rochester, Minnesota. It is a full-time role with days and hours that may vary and rotating weekends required.

Responsibilities
- Follow proper telephone etiquette and procedures when interacting with patients, visitors, and healthcare professionals.
- Offer menu alternatives permitted by prescribed diets, taking into account food allergies and sensitivities and cultural, ethnic, or religious preferences.
- Respond to patient needs and resolve concerns or complaints promptly, or report the need for assistance to a supervisor.
- Comply with restrictions for special and modified diets while meeting food preferences within diet-order guidelines.
- Coordinate with nursing to help ensure patient diet prescriptions are accurate and food needs are met.
- Follow facility confidentiality and patient-rights policies, including HIPAA policies and procedures.
- Comply with federal, state, and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures.
- Follow HACCP guidelines when assembling and distributing food supplies to support food quality and safety.
- Complete required daily, weekly, and monthly reports on time in accordance with corporate policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
