About The Position

MedVet is seeking a collaborative and driven Nursing & ICU Veterinary Assistant to join its clinical team. The Nursing department provides continuous supervision of hospitalized patients to ensure treatment plans are carried out. The role involves recognizing patient distress, providing nursing care, assisting with procedures and recovery, and communicating with clients and the patient care team. The proposed schedule is Sunday through Tuesday, 9:00 a.m.–9:30 p.m. The hiring range is $17.00–$28.00 per hour, based on experience.

Requirements

• Prior veterinary experience is required.
• Proficiency in calculations, including drug calculations, constant rate infusions, and unit conversions.
• Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Previous nursing or critical care experience is desired.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases, and gather additional information as needed.
• Partner with the patient care team on treatment plans, client communication, and nursing care concerns.
• Educate clients on home care instructions, medications and their indications and adverse reactions, and wellness updates for hospitalized patients.
• Assist the DVM with patient assessments, treatments, and procedures.
• Monitor and provide nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
