About The Position

MedVet is a fast-growing emergency and specialty veterinary provider with practices nationwide, delivering advanced medical treatments and innovations. The Nursing & ICU Veterinary Technician joins a collaborative clinical team guided by the values of teamwork, leadership, and compassion. The role provides nursing care and constant supervision for hospitalized patients, helps ensure treatment plans are carried out, and supports clients, patients, and teammates. The proposed schedule is Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Requirements

• Prior veterinary experience is required.
• Proficiency in calculations, including drug calculations, constant-rate infusions, and unit conversions.
• Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred.
• Previous nursing or critical care experience desired.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases, and gather additional information as necessary.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize care based on assessment.
• Partner with the patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication, and nursing care concerns.
• Educate clients on home care instructions, medications and their indications and adverse reactions, and wellness updates for hospitalized patients.
• Assist veterinarians with patient assessment, treatment, and procedures.
• Monitor and provide nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
