About The Position

Essentia Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant for its Clinical Evaluation Unit at the 32nd Avenue Building. The role provides direct patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director, possibly with guidance from an LPN. The work supports patients’ safety and comfort and contributes to Essentia Health’s mission and goals. Duties vary by patient care unit or department and are performed within the role’s scope and applicable regulatory requirements. This is a 36-hour-per-week day position with one 12-hour shift and three 8-hour shifts. The current schedule is Monday through Thursday, but it may change to meet unit needs. Working holidays is required; weekends and on-call duty are not required. Qualified candidates may be eligible for a hiring incentive of up to $1,500.

Requirements

If not already certified as a Nursing Assistant, register as a Nurse Assistant through the North Dakota Department of Health within 3 months of employment.
Obtain BLS certification within 3 months of hire.
Work the stated schedule of 36 hours per week: one 12-hour day shift and three 8-hour day shifts; the schedule may change based on unit needs.

Responsibilities

Provide personal hygiene care and assist patients with nutritional needs.
Provide comfort care and other assistance to patients.
Transfer patients appropriately and safely.
Take vital signs and complete recordkeeping.
Recognize and promptly report changes in patient condition to the RN.
Maintain a safe, clean environment for patients to promote healing.
Work within the role’s scope to meet Joint Commission and other applicable federal, state, and local regulatory and accrediting requirements.
