About The Position

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Nursing Assistant is responsible for collecting data related to patient status, performing basic nursing procedures, collecting and documenting patient data, assisting with treatments and procedures, and helping maintain patient care equipment. The position is in the Cardiac Telemetry department at Laurens County Hospital, on the Laurens County Medical Campus. The schedule is PRN and nights, with a variable work shift.

Requirements

Completion of a nursing assistant program is preferred.
No previous experience is required.

Responsibilities

Assist patients with activities of daily living and hygiene; turn and reposition patients independently or with assistance; and help patients walk or transport them as needed.
Assist adult and pediatric patients with age-appropriate toileting, including emptying established colostomy bags and removing urinary catheters.
Assist with delegated fall-prevention interventions and patient restraints; remove and reapply anti-emboli hose or compression devices.
Help admit patients by preparing the room and orienting patients and/or families to the unit and its bed, call light, phone, and TV.
Take and record vital signs, repeating questionable values.
Prepare patients for meals, assist with feeding, and provide snacks and supplements.
Collect urine, stool, and sputum specimens and deliver them to the appropriate department as requested.
Complete accurate and timely documentation in the EMR.
Maintain cleanliness and order in hospital rooms, utility rooms, the diet kitchen, hallways, and alcoves; dispose of excess linen and keep linen emptied.
Perform point-of-care testing when trained and delegated by an RN, and report lab values to the RN.
Perform other duties as assigned.
