About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant assists with patient care according to individualized plans of care and performs basic nursing activities as delegated by an RN. The role includes collecting, monitoring, documenting, and reporting patient information while maintaining confidentiality and using safe patient-handling practices. The assistant helps keep patient environments neat and clean and works on the Cardiac Telemetry department at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Requirements

Completion of a nursing assistant or patient care technician program.
Current or former state CNA certification may be accepted in lieu of school verification of a nursing assistant training course, as proof of completed state-required training at the time of hire.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
Basic computer and data-entry skills.
Mathematical skills.
Working knowledge of patient equipment, including suction, vital-sign equipment, and defibrillators.

Responsibilities

Assist patients with activities of daily living; turn and reposition patients alone or with assistance.
Transport patients and assist them with walking as needed.
Assist with fall-prevention interventions and patient restraints as delegated.
Provide delegated patient care, including non-sterile soaks, simple non-sterile dressings, and perineal care.
Collect vital signs, fluid intake and output, and basic and sterile specimens.
Document and maintain patient data in the medical record, and inform the RN of activities performed, observations, and changes in patient status.
Run errands; answer the telephone and respond to call lights.
Perform point-of-care testing as trained and delegated by an RN, and report lab values to the RN.
Provide and document comfort measures and non-pharmacological pain management.
Maintain patient confidentiality and a neat, clean patient environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
