About The Position

At Saint Francis Hospital, the Nursing Assistant assists physicians while providing exceptional treatment to patients with a variety of medical conditions. This is a full-time, 36-hour-per-week day-shift position with 12-hour shifts. Weekend and holiday work is scheduled. The role includes supporting patients with daily care, collecting and reporting information, transporting patients, and helping maintain patient safety.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proof of college coursework with transcript, or significant nurse assistant/healthcare-related experience.
• BLS certification required.
• Ability to pass a drug screening and background check.

Nice To Haves

• Graduate of a Connecticut-approved Nurse Aide Training Program, or in the process of earning a bachelor's degree in Nursing or Health Sciences with at least one clinical completed.
• Previous experience as a Nursing Assistant in an acute care setting.

Responsibilities

• Collect and report patient information and data.
• Help patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, diet, fluid intake, skin care, bathing and dressing, positioning, transfers, mobility, and ambulation.
• Transport patients.
• Collect specimens.
• Distribute linens and supplies to patient rooms.
• Deliver ice and beverages to patients.
• Stay with at-risk patients as assigned to monitor patient safety.
