About The Position

The Nurse Tech provides direct and indirect patient care in a hospital setting under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). The role is per diem and associated with the Adult ICU. The nurse tech may perform procedures and tasks for which they have been educated and deemed competent by an accredited, state board-approved pre-licensure nursing program.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited, state board-approved pre-licensure RN program.
• Successfully completed at least one hospital-based clinical rotation.
• Deemed competent by the nursing program in core nursing skills, as evidenced by a completed and signed competency form.
• Proficient in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Current BLS certification through an ILCOR-provided course, such as Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross, required upon hire; the course must include a manikin check-off.
• Good physical health; able to stand, sit, or walk for long periods and lift at least 50 pounds.
• Able to work with a moderate level of noise.
• Available to work 12-hour day, evening, and/or night shifts as needed by Nursing.

Nice To Haves

• Availability to work one shift each week in a 6-week schedule, with at least two shifts on a weekend and/or holiday.
