Nurse Tech Per Diem - Adult ICU
About The Position
The Nurse Tech provides direct and indirect patient care in a hospital setting under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). The role is in the Adult ICU. The Nurse Tech may perform procedures and tasks for which they have been educated and deemed competent by an accredited, state board-approved pre-licensure nursing program. The position requires availability for 12-hour day, evening, and/or night shifts as needed by Nursing. Applicants are preferred who can work one shift each week in a six-week schedule, including at least two weekend and/or holiday shifts. Scheduled weekly hours are TBD. The position requires good physical health and the ability to work with a moderate level of noise. Physical demands include prolonged standing, sitting, or walking and lifting at least 50 pounds.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited, state board-approved pre-licensure RN program.
- Successfully completed at least one hospital-based clinical rotation.
- Deemed competent by the nursing program in core nursing skills, as evidenced by a completed and signed competency form.
- Proficient in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Current BLS certification through an ILCOR-provided course, such as Ochsner Health System, the American Heart Association, or the American Red Cross, required upon hire; the course must include a manikin check-off.
- Must be available to work 12-hour day, evening, and/or night shifts as needed by Nursing.
- Must possess good physical health; able to stand, sit, or walk for long periods, lift at least 50 pounds, and work with a moderate level of noise.
- Physical demands include constant seeing; frequent lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, handling/feeling, talking, and hearing; and occasional climbing stairs or ladders, stooping, and crouching.
