Nurse Tech Float Pool
About The Position
The Nurse Tech Float Pool team member floats to different areas of Big Rapids and Reed City Hospitals, including the Emergency Department and Med Surg. These fast-paced areas offer opportunities to gain knowledge and experience across a variety of settings. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider, the Nurse Tech acts as a team member in delivering quality patient care. The role involves performing basic skills according to department guidelines, communicating observations to the health care team, and collecting and reporting patients’ and families’ physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs as directed by the RN or Provider. Duties include taking vital signs, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization, and serving as a patient safety attendant. Required documentation must be completed accurately and on time.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days.
- Successful completion of a competency-based orientation program.
Responsibilities
- Float to different areas of Big Rapids and Reed City Hospitals, including the Emergency Department and Med Surg.
- Deliver quality patient care as a team member under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Provider.
- Perform basic skills according to department guidelines.
- Communicate observations to members of the health care team.
- Collect and report patients’ and families’ physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs in coordination with and as directed by the RN or Provider.
- Take vital signs and check blood sugars.
- Provide bed baths, assist with ambulation, perform wound care and catheterization, and act as a patient safety attendant.
- Complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
