Nurse Tech Float Pool
About The Position
The Nurse Tech Float Pool team member floats to different areas of Big Rapids and Reed City Hospitals, including the Emergency Department and Med Surg. These fast-paced settings provide opportunities to gain knowledge and experience across a variety of areas. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider, the Nurse Tech acts as a team member in delivering quality patient care. The role performs basic skills according to department guidelines and communicates observations to the health care team. The Nurse Tech collects and reports patients’ and families’ physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs in coordination with and as directed by the RN or Provider. Duties include taking vital signs, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating patients, wound care, catheterization, and serving as a patient safety attendant. Required documentation must be completed accurately and promptly. The position is based at Big Rapids Hospital and works 36 scheduled hours per week, from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with Sunday-through-Saturday availability and every third weekend.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days.
- Successful completion of a competency-based orientation program.
Responsibilities
- Float to different areas of Big Rapids and Reed City Hospitals, including the Emergency Department and Med Surg.
- Deliver quality patient care as a team member under the supervision of an RN or Provider.
- Perform basic skills according to department guidelines and communicate observations to the health care team.
- Collect and report patients’ and families’ physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs in coordination with and as directed by the RN or Provider.
- Take vital signs and check blood sugars.
- Provide bed baths and assist patients with ambulation.
- Perform wound care and catheterization.
- Act as a safety attendant for patients.
- Complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
