About The Position
The Nurse Tech is a patient care role within the emergency department of United Hospital. Working under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider, the Nurse Tech acts as a team member in delivering quality patient care. The role performs basic skills according to department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team. Nurse Tech responsibilities include taking vital signs, checking blood sugars, providing bed baths, assisting with ambulation, wound care and catheterization, and serving as a safety attendant for patients. The position is part-time, with a night shift and variable hours and days worked; weekly scheduled hours are 4.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or ARC is required within 90 days.
Responsibilities
- Take patients’ vital signs.
- Check blood sugars.
- Provide bed baths.
- Assist patients with ambulation.
- Perform wound care.
- Perform catheterization.
- Act as a safety attendant for patients.
- Perform basic skills according to department guidelines.
- Communicate observations to members of the health care team.
- Deliver quality patient care as a team member under the supervision of an RN or Provider.
