About The Position

The University of Rochester's Orthopedic Oncology Division is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) for a full-time position. This role is primarily focused on outpatient care for orthopedic oncology and trauma patients, with a significant emphasis on managing emergency department follow-ups, post-operative visits, and urgent orthopedic appointments. The position is based at the new Orthopedic Center at Marketplace Mall and requires close collaboration with a busy orthopedic oncology service and a multidisciplinary care team. The APP will work closely with orthopedic oncology and trauma surgeons to ensure coordinated, comprehensive care and optimal patient outcomes. While functioning with a high degree of autonomy, strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for collaborative care.

Requirements

  • Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner (for NP role).
  • Active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing (for NP role).
  • Active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing (for NP role).
  • Current national certification as an Nurse Practitioner (for NP role).
  • Completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program (for PA role).
  • Active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing (for PA role).
  • Current national certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA (for PA role).
  • Demonstrate clinical competence.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills.
  • Computer competence.
  • Active desire to learn.
  • Eligible for billing.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior APP experience.
  • Prior orthopedic experience.
  • Prior surgery experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality outpatient care to orthopedic oncology and trauma patients.
  • Manage emergency department follow-ups.
