About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team. This role provides primary and/or specialty nursing and/or medical care in a variety of settings, working under physician oversight as required by state regulation. The position involves direct patient care, including obtaining patient history, performing patient assessment via observation, interview and examination, ordering, performing and interpreting diagnostic studies, and performing preventative health assessments, screenings, immunizations and care. The practitioner provides direct treatment and management of acute and chronic disease conditions, and develops and implements patient-centered plans of care in collaboration with physicians, patients, consultants, nurses, ancillary care providers and others as appropriate to the patient's condition. The role may involve billing for services covered by collaborative practice agreement. Additionally, the practitioner provides counseling and education to patients and their families/caregivers concerning disease management, complication prevention, disease prevention, quality of life improvement measures, and outcome management activities. They monitor and ensure accuracy of patient medical records, maintaining all required reports, records, and statistics. Maintaining a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with established clinic/hospital standards is also key. The position manages health conditions via prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers or community resources, and may perform diagnostic or therapeutic interventions consistent with certification and state regulations. A critical aspect of the role is championing the safety and quality of care for patients using ITB therapy and serving as an expert in the care and management of ITB pumps. This includes helping to develop a detailed educational program for patients and leading quality and safety initiatives for the program. The practitioner serves as a clinical expert regarding rehabilitation nursing, demonstrating a high level of autonomy and expert skill in complex clinical nursing situations. They also provide management services for clinical research study projects, monitoring participating subjects, including medication administration and family/patient education. The role requires working in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, and safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Regular participation in constant quality improvement and process improvement activities centered on providing exceptional, evidence-based patient care is expected. Professional growth and development are enhanced through educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops. The practitioner is expected to contribute to the advancement of the rehabilitation nursing profession through research, publications, and presentations, and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's degree
  • Basic Life Support - American Heart Association or Basic Life Support - American Red Cross certification (Online Basic Life Support certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the Basic Life Support requirements)
  • No specific work experience is required for this position
  • A driver's license is not required for this position
  • For Nurse Practitioner: Master of Science in Nursing with emphasis in the Nurse Practitioner program
  • For Nurse Practitioner: Advanced Practical Nurse licensure (or ability to successfully obtain licensure within three months of date of hire)
  • For Nurse Practitioner: Certain/additional certifications may be necessary based on area of specialty
  • For Physician Assistant: Graduate of PA program
  • For Physician Assistant: Current PA licensure to practice in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on location, or ability to obtain within three months of date of hire
  • For Physician Assistant: Certain/additional certifications may be necessary based on area of specialty

Responsibilities
