About The Position

The University of Rochester's Orthopedic Department, Trauma Division is seeking a full-time Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join their busy orthopedic trauma service. This role primarily involves day shifts, with weekends and evenings as required. The FNP/PA will work collaboratively with the healthcare team to provide high-quality care to Orthopaedic Trauma patients. The position requires the ability to function independently and with supervision in an outpatient setting, triaging and coordinating patient care. Prior APP or orthopedic experience is preferred. Strong communication and clinical skills are essential, and the candidate must be eligible for billing.

Requirements

  • Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner (for NPs)
  • Active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing (for NPs)
  • Active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing (for NPs)
  • Current national certification as an Nurse Practitioner (for NPs)
  • Completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program (for PAs)
  • Active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing (for PAs)
  • Current national certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA (for PAs)
  • Demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn.
  • Must be eligible for billing.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with busy orthopedic trauma service and all members of the health care team to provide high quality care to Orthopaedic Trauma patients.
  • Function independently and with supervision in the outpatient setting to triage and coordinate the care of orthopedic trauma patients.
  • Participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training.
