About The Position
VitalCore Health Strategies is hiring a Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant at Dale Haile Canyon County Detention Center in Caldwell, Idaho. The NP/PA uses the medical model to address a variety of healthcare needs, primarily in ambulatory care, working with healthcare professionals and security officers in a correctional environment. The position provides basic medical services under the supervision of a licensed physician and has no managerial responsibilities. The schedule is 8 hours per week. Some on-call responsibility may be required.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited college or university NP/PA program.
- Must possess current licenses or certifications in Idaho.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in correctional healthcare is desired but not required.
- Acute care experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Respond to and initiate care for medical emergencies throughout the facility.
- Identify inmate/patient health problems and prescribe treatment under the direction of a physician.
- Implement medical care using therapeutic regimens approved by a physician.
- Provide education to inmates/patients, healthcare staff, and correctional staff.
- Document all healthcare contacts.
- Follow safety and security policies and participate in disaster drills.
- Follow security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications.
- Assign tasks to team members as needed.
- Follow Universal Precautions and other appropriate infection-control practices.
- Attend training and meetings as required.
