About The Position

As a Nurse Extern, you’ll be a valued part of the nursing team, gaining hands-on experience while exploring the full scope of the Registered Nurse role. You’ll help deliver safe, compassionate care that improves patients’ lives while building the skills and confidence to take on more advanced responsibilities as you progress through your nursing program. The role requires the ability to work 24 productive hours in a month. Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of the employment start date.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing in an associate or bachelor’s degree program.
Ideally have at least six months remaining before graduation.
Complete a Fundamentals or Foundations of Nursing course.
Obtain Basic Cardiac Life Support within 30 days of the employment start date.
Be able to work 24 productive hours in a month.

Responsibilities

Provide essential patient care, including assisting with activities of daily living, checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene.
Perform nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, specimen collection, and other basic procedures as experience and competency develop.
Document care accurately and communicate timely updates to the nursing team to support coordinated patient care.
Help patients and families understand their care plans and offer guidance for their health and recovery.
Maintain clean, safe, and organized patient areas by following infection prevention practices and managing equipment.
Engage in learning opportunities, share ideas to improve care, and partner with a supervisor or preceptor to build a personal career development plan.
