Nurse Extern- Med/Surg
About The Position
The Nurse Extern performs patient-care and administrative support functions under the supervision of a UVA Community Health Registered Nurse (RN) in an inpatient or outpatient setting. The role assists patients with personal care to support recovery, performs basic nursing skills delegated by an RN and in accordance with policies and procedures, helps maintain a safe care environment, and maintains required skills and competencies. Applicants must be currently enrolled nursing students graduating between December 2025 and May 2027. BSN students must have completed their third year, and ASN students must have completed their first year. Students may remain employed as Nurse Externs until graduation. After graduation and board completion, they must apply for open positions and complete the hiring process. The position may include additional duties as assigned.
