The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will manage patients' needs as described, identified by the Emergency Service Unit, and as directed by the Supervisor. The role requires performing in accordance with competency standards and providing comprehensive, skilled, and competent care specific to the age of the patients, based on assessment, process, and the provider's plan of care. Conditions and treatments can range from non-critical to critical. The position demands knowledge of scientific and psychosocial theory, principles, practices, and techniques to plan and provide quality care that meets the physical, spiritual, and socio-cultural needs of the patient. It also requires knowledge of biological aspects of disease processes and illness to recognize complications and implement appropriate therapeutic interventions. The NP/PA must be able to analyze the results of various medical procedures and translate them into appropriate interventions, and work effectively and harmoniously within the healthcare team and with patients and their families. Additionally, the role involves operating and mentoring specialized equipment such as respiratory equipment, thematic devices, suction devices, defibrillators, and electrocardiographs, and reporting malfunctions as needed. The NP/PA will administer therapeutic measures as prescribed, including medications, intravenous fluids, blood products, and respirator treatments, and perform various procedures such as splinting, suturing, preparing patients, assisting during procedures, and evaluating patient outcomes post-procedures. The role also includes inter-facility transports.
